چکیده
High urinary sodium-to-potassium ratio is considered a strong risk factor for hypertension. This study aimed to evaluate excretion of sodium and potassium, we analyzed these levels associated with dietary intake in Japanese adolescent football players. cross-sectional included 120 male Over 24 h, urine was collected measured creatinine, sodium, potassium levels. A assessment performed using self-administered diet history questionnaire. The 79 participants. mean 143.2 mmol/day, 42.8 the 3.6. Compared Dietary Reference Intakes, estimated salt 73.4% participants who exceeded intake, did not satisfy it. Multiple regression analysis revealed that milk dairy product independently positively (β = 0.252) negatively −0.254). Adolescent players had high-sodium low-potassium diet, well above Intakes recommendations. Milk products could be effective increasing decreasing ratio.

Association between Parent and Child Dietary Sodium and Potassium Intakes as Assessed by 24-h Urinary Excretion
The aim of this study was to assess the association between parent and child sodium (Na) and potassium (K) intake as assessed by 24-h urinary excretion (24hUE). Primary school children and their parent(s) provided one 24-h urine sample and information on cooking and children's discretionary salt use. Valid urine samples were provided by 108 mothers (mean age 41.8 (5.1) (SD) years, Na 120 (45) m...
متن کاملAssociation Between Estimated 24-h Urinary Sodium Excretion and Metabolic Syndrome in Korean Adults
High sodium intake is 1 of the modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but in Korea, daily sodium intake is estimated to be double the level recommended by World Health Organization. We investigated the association between the estimated 24-h urinary sodium excretion (24hUNaE) and metabolic syndrome using nationwide population data. In total, 17,541 individuals (weighted n = 33,200,0...
متن کاملHigh Dietary Sodium Intake Assessed by Estimated 24-h Urinary Sodium Excretion Is Associated with NAFLD and Hepatic Fibrosis
BACKGROUND Although high sodium intake is associated with obesity and hypertension, few studies have investigated the relationship between sodium intake and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We evaluated the association between sodium intake assessed by estimated 24-h urinary sodium excretion and NAFLD in healthy Koreans. METHODS We analyzed data from 27,433 participants in the Korea...
متن کاملSodium and potassium urinary excretion and dietary intake: a cross-sectional analysis in adolescents
BACKGROUND Hypertension is the leading cause for heart disease and stroke, for mortality and morbidity worldwide, and a high sodium-to-potassium intake ratio is considered a stronger risk factor for hypertension than sodium alone. OBJECTIVE This study aims to evaluate sodium and potassium urinary excretion, and assess the food sources of these nutrients in a sample of Portuguese adolescents. ...
متن کامل[Assessment of dietary intake and urinary excretion of sodium and potassium in adults].
BACKGROUND Hypertension is associated with elevated sodium and low potassium intakes. The determination of sodium and potassium intake by dietary records is inaccurate, being its measurement from 24-h urine collection the reference method. AIM To determine urinary sodium and potassium excretion in adults. To compare dietary sodium and potassium intake and their excretion from an isolated urin...
